This is a poem about the function of keeping people and things connected. It is a constant battle to keep up the connections we have. Let’s appreciate or enjoy the work it takes to hold the fabric of our societies together. It is an experiment in erasure poetry, where I try to get the erasures to change the message of the poem. In this case, the focalization is altered from first person (the needle) to third person. This protagonist is going about their business, trying their hardest to create community. The antagonist, fate or entropy, becomes more of an agent in the erased poem. It is perhaps a remark on the decay of society, if we do not keep up constant effort to maintain it.
