Taper is an online literary journal for computational poetry and literary art, published twice yearly by Bad Quarto.Each issue is edited by a collective. Editing and production is done in coordination with The Trope Tank at MIT, a laboratory directed by Bad Quarto proprietor and publisher Nick Montfort. Taper is not officially associated with MIT or hosted on an MIT server, however.
I was an editor since inception in 2018. As of 2025, I was on the editorial committee for 13 issues. I coordinated the social media, editorial meetings and author contacts, and publication schedule. We refined the process so that our remotely located volunteer collective operate with little friction in organization. I summarized the project in a poster, presented at Creativity & Cognition 2025.
