Penguin Salt & Pepper Shakers
2003

Angela Chang and I designed and created these for a friend who collects salt and pepper shakers. The eye of each penguin is a set screw. Loosening this with fingers allows the clear plastic belly to slide out through the base. It can then be refilled and reinserted. Of course, the seasoning inside is visible, so diners know which is salt and which is pepper.

Though empty in this picture, when the penguins are filled, the seasoning is visible within their transparent bellies.

The penguins with set screws loosened and bellies removed for refilling.

A fairly scruffy preliminary notebook sketch.
